Just in time for Canada 150 celebrations, My First 150 Days follows the lives of an immigrant family through their first five months in the country after being reunited.

Directed by Diana Dai, the film introduces us to Melona Banico, an immigrant who has been living   in Toronto for the last eight years, saving up to sponsor her three children and her grandson from the Philippines.

When they’re reunited at the airport, it looks like a happy ending — but their story is just beginning. What they face next is homesickness, language barriers, frustration and family disagreements.

Diana talked to us about what it was like to make the film and how her own experience as an immigrant helped her connect with the Banico family and  show what it's really like to start a new life in Canada.
