In 2002, Dylan Reibling got a call from the Toronto police. His friend, Michael De Bourcier, was found dead in his own apartment from an apparent heart attack.
Strangely, it turns out Mike had pre-paid for his funeral just a week before he died. And stranger still, all of the ID in his wallet were fakes. His name was not Michael De Bourcier. No one knew who he really was.
Thus began Dylan's decade-long search for answers about the true identity of his friend and how he died. His film Looking for Mike takes us along this journey and all the twists and turns he encounters along the way.
Dylan talked to us about his friendship with Mike, the lasting impact his secret had on his own relationships, and the ethical dilemma of re-opening old wounds.
